Tusass is Greenland's sole mobile operator. 4G coverage exists in the settled coastal communities: Nuuk, Ilulissat, Sisimiut, Aasiaat, and Qaqortoq all have LTE. Ilulissat Ice Fjord (UNESCO) has 4G from Ilulissat town; the fjord boat tour routes have patchy coverage within 10 km of town. The Greenland ice sheet — covering 80% of the country's landmass — has no mobile coverage whatsoever. Dog sled routes, ski crossings of the ice cap, and remote mountain expeditions require satellite communicators. Air Greenland helicopter and prop-plane routes between settlements pass through zones with no ground signal.

Is there mobile coverage in Nuuk?
Yes. Nuuk has solid 4G from Tusass across the city centre, harbour area, and Katuaq Cultural Centre. Greenland's capital of 19,000 people is well-connected.
Does the eSIM work at Ilulissat Ice Fjord?
Yes. Ilulissat town has 4G. The UNESCO Ice Fjord viewpoint (Sermermiut) and the boat tours have 4G within about 10 km of the town.
Is there any coverage on the Greenland ice sheet?
No. The vast interior ice cap has zero mobile coverage. Any crossing or expedition on the ice sheet requires a satellite phone or SPOT/InReach communicator.

What happens when my data runs out?

How long is the eSIM valid for?
You have 6 months from your purchase date to activate the eSIM. Once activated, the plan validity period (e.g., 7 days, 30 days) begins counting down.
Will the eSIM work at the airport when I land?
Yes — as long as you installed the eSIM before your flight, it activates automatically when your phone connects to a local network on landing. No Wi-Fi required for activation.
What if the QR code doesn't scan?
If the QR code won't scan, you can enter the activation code manually — we include both in the email. You can also contact our 24/7 support team and we'll resend or manually provision your eSIM.
