Which Android phones support eSIM?
Most Android flagships released after 2020 include eSIM. Samsung Galaxy S20 through S25 (and Z Fold / Z Flip foldables), Google Pixel 3 and newer (outside Japan), OnePlus 11/12/13 (global variants), Motorola Razr and Edge series, global Xiaomi 13/14/15 series, Sony Xperia 1 V / 1 VI, Honor Magic series, and the Nothing Phone (3) all support eSIM. Mid-range and budget Android phones often omit eSIM — check your phone's spec sheet if unsure.
S20, S21, S22, S23, S24, S25 series · Z Fold/Flip 3 and newer · A55, A35
Pixel 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 series · Pixel Fold (not available in Japan)
OnePlus 12, OnePlus Open (check regional availability)
Razr 40 / 50 series · Edge 30 and newer (select models)
Xiaomi 14 / 14 Ultra · Some Mi 11 and 12 series models
Xperia 10 V, Xperia 1 V, Xperia 1 VI
Does your phone need to be unlocked to use eSIM?
Yes — carrier-locked phones cannot install third-party eSIM profiles. A locked iPhone shows a "SIM locked" message under Settings → General → About when you try to add an eSIM. Most iPhones purchased directly from Apple or after a 12-month contract are unlocked. In the US, all iPhones from the iPhone 15 onwards sold by Apple are unlocked by default. If your phone is still locked, contact your carrier to request an unlock — most will do so free of charge once the contract term is complete. Android phones follow the same rule: factory-unlocked or "SIM-free" models work immediately; carrier-branded models may need to be unlocked first.
What to do if it doesn't.
My phone supports eSIM, but I don't see the option to add one.
This usually happens if your carrier hasn't enabled eSIM on your account, your phone is locked to your carrier, or your phone software needs updating. Try Settings → Software Update first.
I can't scan the QR code.
Most phones accept manual entry of the activation code. Contact us and we'll resend the manual code.
My device has a physical SIM card. Can I still use eSIM?
Yes. Modern phones have a hybrid slot — your physical SIM and eSIM can both stay active. Use eSIM for data, your home SIM for calls.
Still stuck?
