What you are buying, exactly.
A travel eSIM is prepaid data, bought once. You choose an amount of data and a validity window, pay for it, and that is the end of the transaction — no contract to sign, no monthly bill, no credit check, and nothing that renews on its own. When the data or the validity runs out, the plan simply stops.
It is also not roaming. Instead of your home carrier billing you a daily fee to use its partner networks, you are buying capacity on local networks directly, at local rates. That is the whole reason the numbers are different: a day of carrier roaming typically costs $10–$15, while most of our week-length plans cost less than that in total.
What you do not get is a local phone number. These are data-only plans, so calls and SMS over the mobile network are not included. Most travellers use WhatsApp, FaceTime, or Signal over the data connection and leave their home SIM in the phone for anything that genuinely needs a number — dual SIM means you can run both at once.

Before you pay.

Every destination page shows a price per gigabyte, which is the only number that lets you compare plans honestly — a $5 plan with 1 GB is worse value than a $9 plan with 5 GB, and headline prices hide that.

Can I buy an eSIM online?
Yes. An eSIM is a digital product, so the whole purchase happens online — there is nothing to ship and no store to visit. Pick your destination and plan, pay by card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay, and the QR code arrives by email. Most orders are delivered within a couple of minutes.
How quickly do I get the eSIM after buying?
Normally within a few minutes of payment. The QR code and a manual activation code are emailed to you, and both are also available in your account under My eSIMs. If an order ever takes longer, contact support and we will provision it manually.
Is a travel eSIM prepaid?
Yes. You pay once for a set amount of data and a set validity period — there is no contract, no monthly bill, no credit check, and no automatic renewal. If you run low mid-trip you can top up from your account; if you do not, the plan simply expires.
Can I buy an eSIM before I travel?
Yes, and it is the recommended way to do it. Buy and install over Wi-Fi at home, and the plan stays dormant until you arrive. You have 6 months from purchase to activate, and the validity period only starts counting once the eSIM connects to a network at your destination.
What payment methods can I use?
Card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Prices are charged in USD, and the total you see at checkout is the total you pay — no activation fee and no booking fee added at the last step.
Do I need to register or send ID to buy an eSIM?
No. There is no identity check and no local registration for the destinations we sell. You need an email address to receive the QR code and an eSIM-compatible, carrier-unlocked phone — nothing else.
What if I buy the wrong plan?
You can request a full refund within 7 days as long as the eSIM is unused or you have used less than 100 MB. Verified faults are refunded regardless. Full terms are on our refund policy page.
Does the plan include calls and texts?
No — these are data-only plans, so they do not come with a local phone number for calls or SMS. In practice most travellers use data apps such as WhatsApp, FaceTime, or Signal, and keep their home SIM active alongside the eSIM for any calls they still need.
