Vodacom DRC and Airtel provide 4G LTE in Kinshasa, Lubumbashi, Goma, and Bukavu. The eastern Kivu provinces (Goma, Bukavu, Beni) are unstable but have 4G in town centres. Virunga National Park gorilla sectors have limited signal near ranger stations. Most of DRC's interior rainforest is off-grid.

Does Flysimio work in DR Congo?
Yes in Kinshasa and major provincial capitals. Goma and Bukavu in the east have 4G, though the security situation in eastern DRC is serious — check current travel advisories. National parks and most of the interior have no signal.
Is it safe to visit Virunga National Park?
Virunga is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to mountain gorillas, but it's in a conflict-affected zone of eastern DRC. The park has reopened to tourism with ranger-escorted visits, but consult current travel advisories from your government before planning. The gorilla tracking experience itself is extraordinary.
Where can I see bonobos?
Bonobos (our closest living relative alongside chimpanzees) exist only in DR Congo, south of the Congo River. The Lola ya Bonobo sanctuary near Kinshasa is the most accessible way to see them. Wild bonobo tracking is possible at the Kokolopori and Wamba reserves but requires expedition planning.
What currency is used in DRC?
The Congolese franc (CDF). USD is widely used in Kinshasa and most business transactions. EUR is less accepted. Bring USD cash in small denominations — ATMs are limited outside Kinshasa.
What is Kinshasa known for?
Kinshasa is the world's largest French-speaking city and a capital of African music — rumba congolaise and ndombolo originated here. The city has a vibrant arts scene (Académie des Beaux-Arts), the Marché de la Victoire, and the Stanley Pool Congo riverfront.

How long is the eSIM valid for?
You have 6 months from your purchase date to activate the eSIM. Once activated, the plan validity period (e.g., 7 days, 30 days) begins counting down.
Will the eSIM work at the airport when I land?
Yes — as long as you installed the eSIM before your flight, it activates automatically when your phone connects to a local network on landing. No Wi-Fi required for activation.
What if the QR code doesn't scan?
If the QR code won't scan, you can enter the activation code manually — we include both in the email. You can also contact our 24/7 support team and we'll resend or manually provision your eSIM.
