The 60-second verdict
Flysimio sells 5 GB for 30 days in Cyprus at $8.50 on Epic and PrimeTel. Airalo's cheapest 30-day Cyprus plan is $69.00, because they sell the island as unlimited-only — and notably it runs on PrimeTel, one of the same networks we use. Same towers, eight times the price for a normal allowance.
For a one-week beach holiday, our 1 GB / 7-day plan at $2.25 or 3 GB / 30 days at $5.75 covers it comfortably. Cyprus is an EU member, so if you are travelling from elsewhere in the EU your existing allowance may already work — worth checking before you buy anything.

The one thing to understand about Cyprus
Cyprus is divided, and it affects your phone. The Republic of Cyprus in the south is an EU member served by Cyta, Epic and PrimeTel. Northern Cyprus operates on Turkish networks. Nicosia is the world's last divided capital, and crossing at the Ledra Street checkpoint will hand your phone to a different set of networks entirely.
- A Cyprus eSIM covers the Republic — Paphos, Limassol, Larnaca, Ayia Napa, southern Nicosia and Troodos.
- Cross into the north and you will be roaming on a Turkish network at whatever rates that implies, which are usually not covered.
- Even standing near the Green Line in Nicosia, phones can latch onto a northern tower. Watch your network indicator if you are close to it.
- If you plan to spend real time in the north, that needs a separate arrangement — do not assume this plan covers it.
Coverage by destination
- Paphos — 4G/5G across the harbour and the UNESCO Archaeological Park. Paphos airport is covered.
- Limassol — 5G along the seafront and old town.
- Larnaca — 5G, including the airport and Finikoudes promenade.
- Ayia Napa and Protaras — well covered, including the main beaches.
- Nicosia (south) — 5G. See the note above about the Green Line.
- Troodos mountains — 4G in the villages and at the main viewpoints; thinner on the hiking trails and mountain switchbacks.
- Akamas peninsula and the Blue Lagoon — patchy. It is a rough track in; download maps first.
How much data do you need?
Cyprus is a resort destination with excellent hotel Wi-Fi, so real usage is low — 1–2 GB covers a week for most people. A 3 GB plan at $5.75 is comfortable for a fortnight. Buy larger only if you are working remotely from Limassol, which has become a genuine digital-nomad and tech base.
Setting it up
- Buy and install on Wi-Fi before you fly.
- Switch the line on at Larnaca or Paphos and enable Data Roaming for that line only.
- Turn Data Roaming off on your home line.
- Cyprus drives on the left and uses Type G plugs — the same as the UK.
- If you visit the north, watch your network indicator and expect the plan not to cover you there.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best eSIM for Cyprus?
Flysimio — 5 GB for 30 days is $8.50 on Epic and PrimeTel, against $69.00 for Airalo's cheapest 30-day Cyprus plan, which is unlimited-only and runs on PrimeTel too. Same underlying network, a fraction of the price.
Does a Cyprus eSIM work in Northern Cyprus?
No. Northern Cyprus operates on Turkish networks, so a Republic of Cyprus plan does not cover it. If you cross at Ledra Street in Nicosia your phone will roam onto a Turkish network at separate rates.
Do I need an eSIM for Cyprus if I am from the EU?
Possibly not. Cyprus is an EU member, so roam-like-at-home allowances from an EU SIM apply. Check what your home plan includes first — if it covers you, you may not need to buy anything.
Is there coverage in the Troodos mountains?
Yes in the villages and at the main viewpoints on 4G. Coverage thins on the hiking trails and the mountain switchback roads, so download offline maps before a walking day.
How much data do I need for Cyprus?
About 1–2 GB for a week. Cyprus is a resort destination with strong hotel Wi-Fi, so real usage is low. A 3 GB plan at $5.75 comfortably covers a fortnight.
