FAQ

Questions about Cyprus

Does this eSIM cover Northern Cyprus?

No. This eSIM covers the Republic of Cyprus (southern part) only. Northern Cyprus is administered by Turkish authorities and uses Turkish carrier networks. You would need a separate Turkey eSIM for the northern part.

Is there 5G in Limassol and Paphos?

Yes. Limassol's seafront and Paphos harbour both have 5G. Larnaca and Ayia Napa also have 5G in main tourist areas.

Does the eSIM work in the Troodos Mountains?

Yes. Platres, Kakopetria, and Mount Olympus ski area have 4G. The Cyprus ski season is short (January–March) but the mountain is 4G-covered year-round.

Can I use this eSIM at the Paphos Archaeological Park?

Yes. The Paphos mosaics (House of Dionysus, House of Theseus) and the entire UNESCO archaeological park have solid 4G.

What plug type does Cyprus use?

Cyprus uses Type G (British 3-pin rectangular), the same as the UK and Malta. US travellers need a Type G adapter.

What is an eSIM?

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM built into your phone. Instead of a physical card, you scan a QR code and your plan installs instantly — no SIM tray needed.

Is my phone eSIM-compatible?

iPhone XS (2018) and newer, most Android flagships from 2020+, and all Samsung Galaxy S21+ devices support eSIM. Check our compatibility page for the full device list.

How do I install the eSIM?

After purchase, we email a QR code. On iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Scan QR Code. On Android: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → Add eSIM. The whole process takes under 60 seconds.

Can I keep my regular SIM while using this eSIM?

Yes. Most phones support dual SIM (physical + eSIM). Keep your home number for calls and SMS — use Flysimio for data abroad. You control which SIM handles what in your phone Settings.

Does the eSIM include a hotspot (tethering)?

Yes, all Flysimio plans include mobile hotspot at no extra charge. Share your data connection with laptops, tablets, or other devices freely.

What happens when my data runs out?

You can top up data from your account dashboard at any time. Top-ups are applied instantly — no need to buy a new eSIM or wait.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. We offer a full refund within 7 days of purchase. Contact contact@flysimio.com with your order number.

How long is the eSIM valid for?

You have 6 months from your purchase date to activate the eSIM. Once activated, the plan validity period (e.g., 7 days, 30 days) begins counting down.

Will the eSIM work at the airport when I land?

Yes — as long as you installed the eSIM before your flight, it activates automatically when your phone connects to a local network on landing. No Wi-Fi required for activation.

What if the QR code doesn't scan?

If the QR code won't scan, you can enter the activation code manually — we include both in the email. You can also contact our 24/7 support team and we'll resend or manually provision your eSIM.

Best eSIM for travel to Cyprus

The best Cyprus eSIM covers the Republic of Cyprus on Epic and PrimeTel, with 5G in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos. Plans are prepaid with no contract and no roaming surprises, your QR code arrives by email within seconds, every plan includes free mobile hotspot, and there's a 7-day money-back guarantee. Two honest notes before you buy. Cyprus is an EU member, so if you're travelling from elsewhere in the EU your existing roam-like-at-home allowance may already cover you — check that first. And a Cyprus plan covers the Republic only: Northern Cyprus runs on Turkish networks and is not included.

How to set up a Cyprus eSIM (step by step)

Getting online in Cyprus takes about two minutes. Confirm your phone supports eSIM — iPhone XS (2018) and newer and most Android flagships from 2020 qualify. Choose your Cyprus plan on Flysimio and pay with card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay; your QR code arrives by email within seconds. On Wi-Fi before you fly, open Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM (iPhone) or Network & Internet → SIMs → Add eSIM (Android) and scan it. When you land at Larnaca or Paphos, switch the Flysimio line on and turn on Data Roaming for that line only. Cyprus drives on the left and uses Type G plugs, the same as the UK — worth packing for.

How much data do you need in Cyprus?

Less than you'd expect. Cyprus is a resort destination with strong hotel Wi-Fi, so most visitors use 1–2 GB across a full week — roughly 300 MB a day covers maps, messaging and email. A 3 GB plan comfortably covers a fortnight. The exception is Limassol, which has become a genuine tech and digital-nomad base; if you're working there, 10 GB or more makes sense. Coverage is strong in Paphos, Limassol, Larnaca, Ayia Napa and Protaras, and good in the Troodos villages, but it thins on the mountain hiking trails and the rough track into the Akamas peninsula and Blue Lagoon.

Using a Cyprus eSIM on iPhone and Android

Flysimio runs as a second line beside your usual SIM, so you keep your home number for calls and texts while your Cypriot data flows over the eSIM — standard dual-SIM behaviour on iPhone XS and later and most Android phones from 2018. Set the Flysimio eSIM as your cellular-data line and turn on Data Roaming for that line only. One Cyprus-specific thing to watch: near the Green Line in Nicosia, phones can latch onto a tower on the northern side and leave your plan's coverage without you noticing. Keep an eye on the network indicator if you're close to the divide or crossing at Ledra Street.

Hotspot, calls, and texts on a Cyprus data eSIM

Every Flysimio Cyprus plan includes mobile hotspot at no extra cost and without throttling, so you can tether a laptop or tablet or share with a travel companion. As a data-only eSIM it has no Cypriot phone number, but WhatsApp is the default for messaging across Cyprus, and FaceTime and Google Meet handle calls over data. Your home number stays reachable on your primary SIM. For anyone working remotely from Limassol, the hotspot allowance matters more than the phone number — you can run a laptop off the plan without paying extra for tethering.

Short Cyprus trips vs. long stays

For a one-week beach holiday in Paphos or Ayia Napa, the 1 GB / 7-day plan is usually enough, and 3 GB covers a fortnight with room to spare. For a longer stay — Limassol has a substantial expat and remote-working community — a 10 GB or larger plan makes sense. Because Flysimio gives you six months to activate, you can buy before you leave and validity only starts when your eSIM first connects in Cyprus. If you're planning real time in Northern Cyprus, that needs a separate arrangement; do not assume this plan reaches across the line.
