Kolbi (the state telecom, ICE) and Claro provide the widest coverage across Costa Rica's varied terrain. San José and the Central Valley have solid 4G/5G. Coverage thins in specific pockets worth knowing about before you go.
- Arenal Volcano (La Fortuna): solid 4G in town and at the main viewpoints — hot springs resorts and hanging bridge parks are all covered.
- Monteverde cloud forest: 4G in Santa Elena town and at the reserve entrance; the hanging bridges trails themselves have patchy 3G/4G.
- Manuel Antonio: 4G at the town and national park entrance; interior trails vary with proximity to the coast.
