Best eSIM for Bosnia 2026: Sarajevo, Mostar & the Neretva

The best eSIM for Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2026: real Flysimio and Airalo prices on BH Mobile, plus coverage notes for Sarajevo, Mostar, Jajce and the Sarajevo–Dubrovnik road.

The 60-second verdict

Flysimio sells 5 GB for 30 days in Bosnia at $17.05 on BH Mobile. Airalo lists a single Bosnia option — 30 days unlimited at $72.50. We are substantially cheaper for any normal allowance, though Bosnia is a pricier data market than its neighbours, so our numbers here are roughly double what we charge in Serbia or Bulgaria.

The thing worth knowing before you travel: Bosnia is not in the EU, so EU roam-like-at-home allowances stop at the border. This catches out a lot of people driving the Dubrovnik–Mostar–Sarajevo route, and it applies to the short Neum coastal corridor too.

Bosnia's networks

BH Telecom (BH Mobile), m:tel and HT Eronet serve the country, roughly along its administrative lines. Coverage in the cities and along the main roads is good; the mountains and the more remote parts of Republika Srpska are where it thins. Flysimio routes through BH Mobile.

Coverage by destination

  • Sarajevo — solid 4G across Baščaršija, the Ottoman quarter and the Austro-Hungarian centre, and at the airport.
  • Mostar — covered around the Stari Most and the old bazaar.
  • The Sarajevo–Mostar–Dubrovnik road — 4G along the route on both the Bosnian and Croatian sides, though you will switch networks at each border.
  • Jajce and Travnik — covered in town.
  • Kravice waterfalls and Blagaj — good.
  • Sutjeska and Una national parks — patchy. Download offline maps.
  • The 1984 Olympic mountains (Bjelašnica, Jahorina) — covered in the resort areas.

One serious safety note

Bosnia still has uncleared landmines in some rural areas, a legacy of the 1990s war. Stick to marked paths and roads, take demining warning signs seriously, and do not go wandering across open countryside because a map app suggests a shortcut. This is the single most important thing on this page, and no amount of mobile coverage substitutes for it.

How much data do you need?

A week between Sarajevo and Mostar runs 2–3 GB for most travellers. Given Bosnian pricing, buy 3 GB at $10.88 for a week rather than over-buying, and top up if needed.

Setting it up

  1. Buy and install on Wi-Fi before you travel.
  2. If you are driving in from Croatia, switch the Bosnian line on before you cross — including for the short Neum corridor.
  3. Enable Data Roaming for the travel line only, and turn it off on your home line.
  4. Download offline maps for the mountain roads and national parks.
  5. Bosnia uses the convertible mark (BAM), not the euro.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best eSIM for Bosnia?

Flysimio on BH Mobile — 5 GB for 30 days is $17.05 against Airalo's single Bosnia option, 30 days unlimited at $72.50. Bosnia is a pricier data market than its neighbours, so our numbers are roughly double what we charge in Serbia or Bulgaria.

Does EU roaming work in Bosnia?

No. Bosnia and Herzegovina is not in the EU, so roam-like-at-home allowances from an EU SIM do not apply. This catches out drivers on the Dubrovnik–Mostar–Sarajevo route, and it applies to the short Neum coastal corridor as well.

Is there coverage on the road from Sarajevo to Dubrovnik?

Yes, 4G along the route via Mostar on both the Bosnian and Croatian sides. You will switch networks at each border crossing, and an EU SIM will lose its roaming allowance on the Bosnian stretch.

Are there still landmines in Bosnia?

Yes, some rural areas still have uncleared mines from the 1990s war. Stick to marked paths and roads, heed demining warning signs, and do not follow map-app shortcuts across open countryside.

How much data do I need for Bosnia?

About 2–3 GB for a week between Sarajevo and Mostar. Given the higher local pricing, a 3 GB plan at $10.88 is the sensible starting point, with a top-up if you run low.
