The Neum border trap — and how the Pelješac Bridge fixes it
Driving the classic Adriatic coastal road (the D8) from Split to Dubrovnik, you cross about 9 km of Bosnian territory at Neum — and the moment you do, a Croatia or EU-regional eSIM stops working, because Bosnia and Herzegovina sits outside the EU roaming zone. The fix, which many older guides still miss: since July 2022 the Pelješac Bridge bypasses Neum entirely, keeping you on Croatian networks the whole way to Dubrovnik. Take the bridge — it is free for cars — and you never leave coverage; take the old coastal road and you will drop out for that stretch.

Does an eSIM work on the Croatian islands?
Yes. Hrvatski Telekom has the best island coverage — Hvar, Korčula, Brač, and the other Dalmatian islands all have 4G. It is the safest choice if you are island-hopping in summer.
Can I use a Europe eSIM in Croatia?
