The single most useful thing to know about Andorra and your phone: **it is not in the EU**, so roam-like-at-home allowances from a European SIM do not apply. Drive up from Barcelona or Toulouse — Andorra is a very common day trip from both — and your allowance stops at the border, replaced by non-EU roaming rates. That is how most visitors end up with an unexpected bill. Flysimio runs on Mobiland (Andorra Telecom), which is the country's only operator and a state monopoly. That monopoly is also why data here is expensive for everyone including us: Andorra is our priciest European country, and we would rather explain why than pretend otherwise.

Getting online in Andorra takes about two minutes, but the timing matters more than usual. Confirm your phone supports eSIM — iPhone XS (2018) and newer and most Android flagships from 2020 qualify. Choose your Andorra plan on Flysimio and pay with card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay; your QR code arrives by email within seconds. Install it on Wi-Fi before you set off, then switch the Andorran line on and turn off Data Roaming on your home line **before you cross from Spain or France**, not after. Phones in the border valleys flip between Andorran, Spanish and French towers, so watch your network indicator on the drive up.

Very little, and given the pricing that is worth leaning into. A ski week uses 1–3 GB for nearly everyone: resort and hotel Wi-Fi is good, and you are on the mountain most of the day. Start small and top up rather than over-buying. If you are only passing through for a few hours of duty-free shopping, it may genuinely be cheaper to leave mobile data off and use Wi-Fi than to buy anything at all — we would rather say that than sell you a plan you do not need. Coverage is excellent in Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany, and across the Grandvalira and Vallnord lift networks.

Flysimio runs as a second line beside your usual SIM, so you keep your home number for calls and texts while your Andorran data flows over the eSIM — standard dual-SIM behaviour on iPhone XS and later and most Android phones from 2018. Set the Flysimio eSIM as your cellular-data line and turn on Data Roaming for that line only. Turning Data Roaming off on your home line is the step that actually prevents the surprise bill here, because your European SIM has no allowance in Andorra. On the mountain, cold flattens phone batteries quickly, so carry a power bank and keep the phone in an inside pocket between runs.

For a day trip from Spain or France, consider whether you need a plan at all — a few hours on Wi-Fi may be the cheaper answer. For a ski week at Grandvalira or Vallnord, the 1 GB / 7-day plan or the 3 GB / 30-day plan is the realistic buy, and both are well below the unlimited-only alternatives. Because Flysimio gives you six months to activate, you can buy before you leave and validity only starts when your eSIM first connects in Andorra. Do check the Port d'Envalira before driving in winter — it is the highest paved pass in the Pyrenees and weather closes it.
