Coverage & connectivity.
MobiCom and Unitel provide 4G/LTE in Ulaanbaatar and all provincial capitals (Aimag centres). Ulaanbaatar city centre and Sukhbaatar Square have 4G/5G (limited 5G from MobiCom). Terelj National Park (50 km from UB) has 4G at ger camp areas and the Turtle Rock. The Trans-Mongolian Railway (Ulaanbaatar–Zamyn-Üüd border) has 4G at all station towns. The Gobi Desert: Dalanzadgad city has 4G; Three Camel Lodge and established camp areas have 4G; remote desert dunes and valleys between camps are without signal. Khövsgöl Lake National Park: Murun has 4G; the lake shore at Hatgal has 4G; the far lake shore accessible only by horse is offline. The vast steppe between aimag centres is largely without 4G.

Does this eSIM work in Ulaanbaatar?
Yes. Ulaanbaatar has solid 4G coverage across the city including the State Department Store area, Sukhbaatar Square, Naran Tuul Market, and the airport.
Is there coverage in the Gobi Desert?
Yes at established tourist camp areas (Bayanzag flaming cliffs, Khongoryn Els sand dunes base camp, Three Camel Lodge). Remote between-camp driving across steppe has no signal.
Can I use this eSIM at Terelj National Park?
Yes. Ger camp areas and the Turtle Rock viewpoint have 4G. Deeper valley trails beyond established camps lose signal.
What currency does Mongolia use?
Mongolian tögrög (MNT). USD is accepted at most tourist camps and Ulaanbaatar hotels. ATMs in UB dispense MNT. Carry cash for rural travel.
Should I bring a satellite communicator for steppe travel?
Yes — strongly recommended for multi-day steppe or Gobi travel without a guide. The open terrain has no mobile coverage between settlements. Garmin inReach or similar devices provide safety communication.

How long is the eSIM valid for?
You have 6 months from your purchase date to activate the eSIM. Once activated, the plan validity period (e.g., 7 days, 30 days) begins counting down.
Will the eSIM work at the airport when I land?
Yes — as long as you installed the eSIM before your flight, it activates automatically when your phone connects to a local network on landing. No Wi-Fi required for activation.
What if the QR code doesn't scan?
