FAQ

Questions about Lithuania

Is there 5G in Vilnius?

Yes. Vilnius city centre, the old town, and Vilnius International Airport have 5G from Telia. Kaunas, Klaipėda, and Panevėžys also have 5G.

Does the eSIM work at Trakai Castle?

Yes. Trakai Island Castle and the surrounding lake area have solid 4G. The lakeside kayak routes have 4G throughout.

Is there coverage on the Curonian Spit?

Yes. Nida, Juodkrantė, and the dune ridge trail on the Curonian Spit all have 4G. The Lithuanian side is well-covered; the Russian Kaliningrad side of the spit is a separate jurisdiction.

Does the eSIM work at the Hill of Crosses?

Yes. The Hill of Crosses (Kryžių kalnas) near Šiauliai has 4G. It is easily combined with a drive along the Via Baltica from Riga.

Can I use this eSIM on the ferry to Latvia or Germany?

Yes in Lithuanian territorial waters. The Klaipėda–Kiel (Germany) and Klaipėda–Karlshamn (Sweden) ferries lose signal in international waters. Coverage resumes on arrival in Latvian, Swedish, or German waters.

What is an eSIM?

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM built into your phone. Instead of a physical card, you scan a QR code and your plan installs instantly — no SIM tray needed.

Is my phone eSIM-compatible?

iPhone XS (2018) and newer, most Android flagships from 2020+, and all Samsung Galaxy S21+ devices support eSIM. Check our compatibility page for the full device list.

How do I install the eSIM?

After purchase, we email a QR code. On iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Scan QR Code. On Android: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → Add eSIM. The whole process takes under 60 seconds.

Can I keep my regular SIM while using this eSIM?

Yes. Most phones support dual SIM (physical + eSIM). Keep your home number for calls and SMS — use Flysimio for data abroad. You control which SIM handles what in your phone Settings.

Does the eSIM include a hotspot (tethering)?

Yes, all Flysimio plans include mobile hotspot at no extra charge. Share your data connection with laptops, tablets, or other devices freely.

What happens when my data runs out?

You can top up data from your account dashboard at any time. Top-ups are applied instantly — no need to buy a new eSIM or wait.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. We offer a full refund within 7 days of purchase. Contact contact@flysimio.com with your order number.

How long is the eSIM valid for?

You have 6 months from your purchase date to activate the eSIM. Once activated, the plan validity period (e.g., 7 days, 30 days) begins counting down.

Will the eSIM work at the airport when I land?

Yes — as long as you installed the eSIM before your flight, it activates automatically when your phone connects to a local network on landing. No Wi-Fi required for activation.

What if the QR code doesn't scan?

If the QR code won't scan, you can enter the activation code manually — we include both in the email. You can also contact our 24/7 support team and we'll resend or manually provision your eSIM.

Best eSIM for travel to Lithuania

The best Lithuania eSIM runs on Telia and Tele2, with 5G in Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda and good coverage across the country including the Curonian Spit and the Baltic coast. Plans are prepaid with no contract, your QR code arrives by email within seconds, and every plan includes free mobile hotspot. One honest note on our own pricing: Lithuania is the single country in the Baltics where our larger plans get relatively expensive — 10 GB is noticeably more here than the same allowance in Latvia or Estonia. If you need a lot of data, compare the Europe regional plan first; for small and mid-size plans we are far below the unlimited-only alternatives.

How to set up a Lithuania eSIM (step by step)

Getting online in Lithuania takes about two minutes. Confirm your phone supports eSIM — iPhone XS (2018) and newer and most Android flagships from 2020 qualify. Choose your Lithuania plan on Flysimio and pay with card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay; your QR code arrives by email within seconds. On Wi-Fi before you travel, open Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM (iPhone) or Network & Internet → SIMs → Add eSIM (Android) and scan it. Switch the line on at Vilnius airport and turn on Data Roaming for that line only. If you're arriving by bus from Riga or Warsaw, switch it on after the border.

How much data do you need in Lithuania?

A week covering Vilnius and Kaunas runs 1–3 GB for most travellers — roughly 300 MB a day for maps, messaging and email, and Wi-Fi is widespread and fast. A 3 GB plan suits a week and 5 GB covers a fortnight. If you need more than that, look at the regional plan rather than our 10 GB Lithuania option, which is priced above our Baltic neighbours. Coverage is good across Vilnius' UNESCO Old Town and Užupis, Kaunas, Trakai, Klaipėda and Palanga, and along the Curonian Spit — thinner on the Aukštaitija and Dzūkija forest back roads.

Using a Lithuania eSIM on iPhone and Android

Flysimio runs as a second line beside your usual SIM, so you keep your home number for calls and texts while your Lithuanian data flows over the eSIM — standard dual-SIM behaviour on iPhone XS and later and most Android phones from 2018. Set the Flysimio eSIM as your cellular-data line and turn on Data Roaming for that line only. One geography note worth knowing: the Curonian Spit is split between Lithuania and the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad, and your plan covers the Lithuanian half only. Watch your network indicator toward the southern end of the spit.

Hotspot, calls, and texts on a Lithuania data eSIM

Every Flysimio Lithuania plan includes mobile hotspot at no extra cost and without throttling, so you can tether a laptop or tablet or share with a travel companion. As a data-only eSIM it has no Lithuanian phone number, but WhatsApp is widely used and FaceTime and Google Meet handle calls over data, while your home number stays reachable on your primary SIM. Lithuania uses the euro and card acceptance is near-universal, so you rarely need a local number to sort anything out.

Short Lithuania trips vs. long stays

For a Vilnius long weekend, the 1 GB / 7-day plan is the economical choice. For a week adding Kaunas, Trakai and the Curonian Spit, a 3–5 GB plan is comfortable. For anything larger, compare the Europe regional plan — our Lithuanian large-plan pricing is the one place in the Baltics where we are not the obvious answer, and we would rather tell you that than sell you the wrong size. Because Flysimio gives you six months to activate, you can buy before you leave and validity only starts when your eSIM first connects in Lithuania.
