Mount Cameroon is the highest peak in West and Central Africa. Douala is the commercial capital; Yaoundé is the administrative capital. Your Flysimio eSIM connects you through Cameroon's main 4G networks.

Coverage & connectivity.
MTN Cameroon and Orange Cameroon provide 4G LTE coverage in all major cities and along the main road network. **Douala** — Cameroon's commercial capital and largest city — has 5G in the central Akwa and Bonanjo districts, the port area, and along the Boulevard de la Liberté. Douala International Airport (DLA) has 5G in arrivals. **Yaoundé** — the political capital — has 5G in the central Bastos and Mvog-Mbi districts and around the Palace of the Congress; Yaoundé Nsimalen International (NSI) has 5G. **Bafoussam** (Western Region, Grassfields) has 4G across the city centre and the main road south toward Douala. **Bamenda** (Northwest Region) has 4G in the town centre — note this is part of the Anglophone crisis zone, check travel advisories before visiting. **Limbe** on the Atlantic coast — popular for its black-sand volcanic beaches and the wildlife centre — has 4G throughout. **Kribi** beach resorts (Southern Region, white-sand beaches and the Lobé waterfalls cascading directly into the ocean) have 4G in town and at the main resorts. **Buea** at the foot of Mount Cameroon has 4G in town; the trek up Mount Cameroon (4,095m) loses signal above 2,000m at Hut 2 — entire summit days are off-grid. **Maroua** (Far North capital) and **Garoua** have 4G in town centres; the surrounding Sahel region has spotty 3G. **Waza National Park** has limited signal — only at the park headquarters. **Campo Ma'an National Park** and the southern Baka rainforest have no connectivity. The Trans-African Highway from Douala to Yaoundé maintains 4G throughout; routes north into Adamawa and the Far North have 4G in major towns and along the central highway corridor only.
Questions about Cameroon
Does Flysimio work in Cameroon?
Yes. MTN Cameroon and Orange Cameroon provide 4G LTE in Douala, Yaoundé, Bafoussam, Bamenda, Limbe, Kribi, and all major cities and towns. 5G is available in central Douala and Yaoundé. The southern rainforest, Mount Cameroon upper slopes, Waza National Park bush, and Far North rural areas have limited or no signal. Download offline maps before any bush or trek travel.
Why is Cameroon called "Africa in miniature"?
Because its geography and ecosystems — Atlantic coast, equatorial rainforest, central highlands, savannah, and Sahel desert — mirror the diversity of the entire African continent compressed into one country. You can swim at Kribi's white-sand beaches in the morning and be hiking volcanic crater rim by afternoon.
Is Cameroon English or French-speaking?
Both. Cameroon has two official languages. The Francophone regions (75% of the country) use French; the Anglophone regions (Northwest and Southwest provinces, 25%) use English — a legacy of the British and French Mandates after WWI. The political tension between these two communities (the "Anglophone crisis") has led to ongoing unrest in the Northwest and Southwest since 2017. Most foreign governments advise against travel to those regions — check current advisories.
What is the Central African CFA franc?
The XAF (Central African CFA franc) is used by six Central African countries: Cameroon, Chad, CAR, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon. It's pegged to the Euro at 1 EUR = 655.957 XAF. EUR can be exchanged at Douala and Yaoundé banks. ATMs in major cities dispense XAF with international cards; cash is essential in rural areas.
Is Mount Cameroon climbable?
Yes. Mount Cameroon (4,095m) is West and Central Africa's highest peak and a popular trekking destination. The standard ascent from Buea takes 2–3 days with overnight stops at Hut 1, Hut 2, and Hut 3. A registered guide is mandatory (and legally required). The mountain is an active stratovolcano — last eruption 2000. No mobile signal above 2,000m; the summit days are completely off-grid. The annual Mount Cameroon Race of Hope happens every February.
What's the best time to visit Cameroon?
November to February is the dry season in the south and is the best time for beaches (Kribi, Limbe) and the Yaoundé/Douala cities. The Far North (Maroua, Waza) has its dry season November to April. June–October is wet season in the south — the rainforest and Mount Cameroon become very wet. Avoid the rainy season for Mount Cameroon treks.
Are Kribi's beaches and the Lobé waterfalls worth visiting?
Yes. Kribi has Cameroon's best beaches — long white-sand stretches with palm trees and few crowds. The Chutes de la Lobé are a unique sight: a waterfall that cascades directly into the Atlantic Ocean, about 6 km south of Kribi town. Both are 4G-covered. The Pygmy Baka villages further inland from Kribi offer cultural visits but limited signal.
What is an eSIM?
An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM built into your phone. Instead of a physical card, you scan a QR code and your plan installs instantly — no SIM tray needed.
Is my phone eSIM-compatible?
iPhone XS (2018) and newer, most Android flagships from 2020+, and all Samsung Galaxy S21+ devices support eSIM. Check our compatibility page for the full device list.
How do I install the eSIM?
After purchase, we email a QR code. On iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Scan QR Code. On Android: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → Add eSIM. The whole process takes under 60 seconds.
Can I keep my regular SIM while using this eSIM?
Yes. Most phones support dual SIM (physical + eSIM). Keep your home number for calls and SMS — use Flysimio for data abroad. You control which SIM handles what in your phone Settings.
Does the eSIM include a hotspot (tethering)?
Yes, all Flysimio plans include mobile hotspot at no extra charge. Share your data connection with laptops, tablets, or other devices freely.
What happens when my data runs out?
You can top up data from your account dashboard at any time. Top-ups are applied instantly — no need to buy a new eSIM or wait.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. We offer a full refund within 7 days of purchase. Contact contact@flysimio.com with your order number.
How long is the eSIM valid for?
You have 6 months from your purchase date to activate the eSIM. Once activated, the plan validity period (e.g., 7 days, 30 days) begins counting down.
Will the eSIM work at the airport when I land?
Yes — as long as you installed the eSIM before your flight, it activates automatically when your phone connects to a local network on landing. No Wi-Fi required for activation.
What if the QR code doesn't scan?
If the QR code won't scan, you can enter the activation code manually — we include both in the email. You can also contact our 24/7 support team and we'll resend or manually provision your eSIM.
