Is there a free eSIM trial? The short answer
A few travel eSIM providers offer a free trial, but it is small: usually between 100 MB and 1 GB of data, valid for one day to a week, and often limited to certain countries or new accounts. Flysimio does not offer a free trial. Instead, you can test a paid eSIM risk-free: change your mind within 7 days and we refund in full as long as it is unused or has used under 100 MB, which is enough to install it and confirm it connects, and a plan with a verified fault is refunded at any point in its validity period. One-day plans start at under $1 in many countries.

What a free eSIM trial actually includes
- Data: typically 100 MB to 1 GB. That covers maps and messages for a few hours, not a trip.
- Validity: usually 24 hours to 7 days from activation.
- Coverage: often a short list of countries, or only the provider's own test destinations.
- Conditions: many trials require creating an account and installing the provider's app, and some ask for a card.
- Availability: trials come and go. Airalo reportedly ended its free trial in 2025, and GigSky offers a small one. Check the provider's app before you rely on it.
The cheaper way to test: a paid eSIM with a refund
A free trial tells you whether a network connects. So does a cheap paid plan with a refund guarantee, and the paid plan then carries on working for your whole trip without switching providers. With Flysimio you buy the plan you actually need, install it at home, and check it on arrival. If it does not connect and we cannot fix it, we refund it at any point in its validity period.
| Typical free trial | Flysimio paid eSIM | |

| If it does not work | Nothing lost, nothing gained | Verified faults refunded during validity; change-of-mind within 7 days if under 100 MB |

Check your phone supports eSIM
iPhone XS and later and most Android phones since 2020 do. The compatibility page lists every model.
Buy the plan for your destination
Pick the size you need for the trip, not a trial size. You have six months to activate it.
Install it on Wi-Fi at home
Scan the QR code from your email. Installing uses no data.
Check it on arrival
Switch your cellular data to the eSIM when you land. If it does not connect, contact support; if we cannot fix it, the plan is refunded.
Free trials from US carriers are not travel eSIMs
Searches for "free eSIM trial" often land on US carrier offers, such as network trials that let you test a carrier at home before switching. Those are domestic: they are for trying a US network, not for data abroad, and many do not work outside the US. For data on a trip, you need a travel eSIM for your destination, or your own carrier's roaming pass. Our AT&T Day Pass vs eSIM comparison shows what that roaming really costs.
Frequently asked questions
Does Flysimio offer a free eSIM trial?
No. Flysimio does not offer a free trial. You can test a paid eSIM risk-free instead: a plan with a verified fault is refunded at any point in its validity period, and change-of-mind refunds are available within 7 days if the eSIM is unused or has used under 100 MB.
Which eSIM providers offer a free trial in 2026?
Only a few, and the offers change often. GigSky offers a small trial; Airalo reportedly ended its trial in 2025. Most free trials are 100 MB to 1 GB for one to seven days.
Is a free eSIM trial enough for a trip?
Rarely. 100 MB to 1 GB covers a few hours of maps and messaging. For a week abroad most travellers use 3 to 10 GB.
What is the cheapest way to try an eSIM?
A one-day plan, which costs under $1 in many countries, or the plan you need for your trip backed by a refund guarantee, so you only pay if it works.
