Best eSIM for Taiwan in October 2026: Plans That Cover Taiwan

Flysimio does not sell a Taiwan-only eSIM, but its Asia plans cover Taiwan on Chunghwa Telecom 5G from about $10 for 5 GB. Which plan to pick, how it compares with a Chunghwa tourist SIM at Taoyuan airport, and how to set it up.

The short answer

Flysimio has no Taiwan-only plan, so for Taiwan you buy an Asia eSIM that includes it. The best value is the 14-country Asia plan: in October 2026 it was $10.40 for 5 GB and $18.98 for 10 GB over 30 days, on Chunghwa Telecom and Taiwan Mobile 5G, and it also covers Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines. It does not cover mainland China or Singapore. The 12- and 19-country Asia plans also include Taiwan; the 7- and 20-country plans do not.

Taiwan carriers: Chunghwa, Taiwan Mobile and FarEasTone

Taiwan has three main carriers. Chunghwa Telecom is the largest, with the widest coverage across the island, including the east coast around Hualien and Taroko Gorge and the mountain roads to Alishan and Sun Moon Lake. Taiwan Mobile and FarEasTone are strong in Taipei, Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung. All three run 5G in the major cities, and the Taipei MRT and High Speed Rail have continuous coverage.

Asia eSIM vs a Chunghwa tourist SIM at Taoyuan airport

Chunghwa Telecom and the other carriers sell tourist SIMs at counters in Taoyuan airport arrivals. They are good value, but you queue on arrival and show your passport, usually with a second photo ID. An Asia eSIM is bought online and installed before you fly, connects on landing, and leaves your home SIM in the phone for calls and texts.

LINE, calls and apps in Taiwan

LINE is the messaging app most people in Taiwan use, and it works over the eSIM data along with WhatsApp, Google Maps and Uber. The eSIM is data-only, so there is no Taiwanese number for SMS. Phone settings (data roaming, keeping your number) are covered step by step in how to use an eSIM abroad.
