Slovenia eSIM · from $1.43See plans

The best eSIM for Slovenia in 2026: real Flysimio and Airalo prices on Mobitel and Telemach, plus coverage notes for Ljubljana, Lake Bled, Triglav National Park, Piran and the Postojna caves.

The 60-second verdict

Flysimio sells 5 GB for 30 days in Slovenia at $8.50 on Mobitel and Telemach. Airalo's cheapest 30-day Slovenia plan is $69.00, because they sell the country as unlimited-only. For a long weekend in Ljubljana and Bled, our 1 GB / 7-day plan at $2.25 covers it.

Slovenia is small enough to cross in three hours, and it borders Italy, Austria, Croatia and Hungary. If your trip is really a Slovenia-plus-Croatia or Slovenia-plus-Austria loop, check the Europe regional plan first — Slovenia is in it.

Slovenia's networks

Telekom Slovenije (Mobitel), A1 Slovenija, Telemach and T-2 serve the country. Mobitel has the widest reach including the alpine valleys; 5G is live in Ljubljana, Maribor and Celje. Slovenia is mountainous but small and well developed, so coverage is good almost everywhere a visitor goes — the exceptions are high alpine terrain and deep karst caves.

Coverage by destination

  • Ljubljana — 5G across the centre, Metelkova and Jože Pučnik airport.
  • Lake Bled and Bohinj — well covered around the lakes and villages; thinner on the Vintgar Gorge walk.
  • Triglav National Park and the Vršič Pass — signal on the main roads and in the valleys, gaps at altitude and on the ridges. Download offline maps for any serious hiking.
  • Piran and the Adriatic coast — solid 4G/5G. Note the whole coastline is only about 47 km long.
  • Postojna and Škocjan caves — coverage at the entrances and visitor centres, nothing inside. That is normal for caves.
  • Maribor, Celje and the Pohorje — 5G in the cities, good on the ski slopes.

How much data do you need?

Slovenia is compact with excellent Wi-Fi, so a week runs 2–3 GB for most travellers. Buy 3 GB at $5.75 for a week or 5 GB at $8.50 for a fortnight including the Alps and the coast.

Setting it up

  1. Buy and install on Wi-Fi before you travel.
  2. Switch the line on at Ljubljana airport and enable Data Roaming for that line only.
  3. Turn Data Roaming off on your home line.
  4. If you are driving in from Italy, Austria, Croatia or Hungary, switch the Slovenian line on after you cross.
  5. Download offline maps before the Vršič Pass or any Triglav hiking.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best eSIM for Slovenia?

Flysimio — 5 GB for 30 days is $8.50 on Mobitel and Telemach, against $69.00 for Airalo's cheapest 30-day Slovenia plan, which is unlimited-only. For a long weekend the 1 GB / 7-day plan at $2.25 is usually enough.

Is there coverage at Lake Bled?

Yes, good coverage around the lake, the town and Bled Castle. It gets thinner on the Vintgar Gorge walk, so download an offline map if you are heading there.

Does my phone work in the Postojna Cave?

At the entrance and visitor centre, yes. Inside the cave system there is no signal, which is true of Škocjan too and of caves generally. Nothing to plan around beyond expecting it.

Should I buy a Slovenia eSIM or a Europe eSIM?

If you are only in Slovenia, the country plan is cheaper. Slovenia borders Italy, Austria, Croatia and Hungary and is small enough to cross in three hours, so if your trip loops through any of them, the Europe regional plan is simpler and Slovenia is included in it.

How much data do I need for Slovenia?

About 2–3 GB for a week. Slovenia is compact with widespread fast Wi-Fi, so real usage is low. A 5 GB plan at $8.50 comfortably covers a fortnight including the Alps and the coast.
