The short answer
A Bahamas eSIM from Flysimio runs on BTC, covering Nassau, Paradise Island, Freeport and the main cruise ports, with patchier signal on the smaller Out Islands. Note that the Bahamas is not included in the Flysimio Caribbean bundle, so buy the Bahamas eSIM for any time on land there.

Bahamas eSIM vs a local SIM card
BTC and Aliv sell prepaid SIMs in Nassau. For a few days ashore, a travel eSIM is simpler: installed before you go, connected as soon as you are in port. Phone settings (data roaming, keeping your number) are covered step by step in how to use an eSIM abroad.
On a cruise? The eSIM works on land and close to shore, not at sea. If your ship also calls at Jamaica, the Dominican Republic or other islands, combine a Bahamas eSIM with the Caribbean eSIM for those stops.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Caribbean eSIM work in the Bahamas?
No. The Flysimio Caribbean bundle covers 18 islands and territories but not the Bahamas. Buy the Bahamas eSIM for time in Nassau and Freeport.
Does a Bahamas eSIM work on a cruise ship?
Only in port or close to shore. At sea the ship uses its own maritime network, which travel eSIMs do not cover.
Can I use my US phone in the Bahamas?
Yes, if it is unlocked and supports eSIM. Install the the Bahamas eSIM before you fly for data, and keep your US line on for calls and texts with data roaming off, which avoids a daily carrier roaming fee.
